ORBX KSQL San Carlos,
City of Good Living
The airport sits in Silicon Valley, South West from the San Francisco Bay Area. KSQL is classified as a reliever airport for the ever so busy KSFO. San Carlos is a busy general aviation airport and is home to over 30 aviation related businesses. San Carlos Airport covers 110 acres at an elevation of 5 feet. It has one asphalt runway 2,600 by 75 feet.
Over 30 avaiation companies are located near San carlos for example; Rabbit Aviation Services, Surf Air, Zanette Aviation Insurance, West Valley Flying Club, Bel-Air International, Air West Aircraft Engines, Diamond Aviation, and the San Carlos Flight Center.
KSQL is the fourth aiport for the FTX: NA Northern California region and the second for developer Ed Correia. With the other 4 airports being :

The scenery can be bought from the Flightsimstore for only € 22,74 and is as usual only available as download only. The download is about 450 MB in size and will take about 620 MB after installation. Activation is needed by key which is sent by e-mail,
Installation is with the usual FSS wrapper very straight forward and no problems, dont close the wrapper before the installation is finished.

Let’s start with a comparison between Google Earth and ORBX’s version
The area covers around 50 square kilometers. This doesn’t sound to much but it’s very well made with a texture resolution of 60 cm. The major buildings are all in correct location and with very good quality and detail. Very close the airport you will find an area of wetlands which is very beautiful reconstructed. The whole scenery blends in nicely into FTX NA Northern California.
The airport is very well modelled , with all the correct parking spots, terminal buldings, ground vehicles, hangars and taxiways. Ed Correia has really proven himself once again, clearly he can do more than just be an ORBX forum administrator.
Like every ORBX airport the airport feels very alive with static aircraft and animated people. The airport and the nearby surrounding is covered by 30 centimeter photorealistic scenery and that shows. Every detail is there and correctly placed from signage to ramp markings.
The quality of the buildings and textures are from a very high level, just like the majority of all the buildings in the direct airport area.
Many interesting buildings can be found nearby the airport; the Oracale offices theHiller Aviation Museum and the Sofitel Hotel to name a few.
Well I can be very short here, just have a look a the shots they basically speak for them selfs. The nightlights looks amazing. You can see the combination of FTX: NA California and Orbx KSQL and Orbx Lights looks really stunning. This is getting close to X-plane 10 night ligthing.

I encountered no FPS impact after installing FTX: NA California nor ORBX KSQL San Carlos. My FPS never dropped below 50 in any VC of my GA aircraft and never below 60 FPS in spot view. I used many different payware GA aircrafts.
My system specs:
Intel I7 5820K overclocked to 4,8 ghz
16 GB DDR4 memory
2x GTX 980 in SLI
Windows 8,1 x64 pro
P3D very minimal tweaked with a custom Nvidia Inspector profile
ORBX KSQL San Carlos is a nice addition, a real must have if you already have FTX: NA California. The scenery combines great detail with accuracy and the great performance gives a lot value for money. What are you waiting for ?
