Nice Cote d’Azur airport is an international airport servicing the city of Nice, France as well as serving as the de facto airport for the city state of Monaco with helicopter service, due to its relative proximity. The airport covers approximately one and a half square miles and features two parallel runways which serve two main terminal buildings. As of 2018 the airport saw just short of 14 million passengers move through the facility. Justsim released their newest version of this airport in late March for X-Plane 11.
Installation, Manuals and Tools:
With a broadband internet connection it was no trouble to quickly download the zip file which contained Justsim’s Nice offering. Be sure to follow the install instructions in the readme file and remove the default LFMN scenery before extracting the new scenery folder into the Custom Scenery folder within your X-Plane 11 install directory. While this process may be somewhat confusing to those who are new to the X-Plane file structure or are less technologically inclined, it was easy enough that most people will have no trouble quickly getting the scenery installed and ready to fly.

On the whole this is a very well done bit of scenery. LFMN is a great choice if you are looking for a Mediterranean vacation airport. There are PLENTY of options as we discussed previously and all available parking spaces are modeled. The entire area around the scenery is rendered in great detail. All of the usual xplane goodies are present with ground vehicles and great lighting. The airport is done in very exacting detail. When comparing the images of the airport I took in the sim to the real thing it is clear that Justsim have done their homework.
Secondly, texturing, a lot of airport scenery can be made or broken based on the textures. Again Justsim have done a great job. As you can see in the screenshot below if your settings are cranked up you can get some very nice runway texturing as well as the markings on taxiways and parking spaces. Justsim have spared no expense and even have textured cracks into the paint.
Third and Finally, Detail. As you might have guessed by this point Justsim have done a fantastic job here as well. Some big airport sceneries can see a bit dead or lifeless without the right amount of “clutter” and ground vehicles. As you can see below Justsim have filled their version of LFMN with a great amount of detail. Not to mention the detail put into the terminals themselves makes them look great even when you are just sitting at the gate waiting for your passengers to board!
Nice at Night:
One of the best advantages that is commonly mentioned when it comes to X-plane is night lighting. The developers over at Justsim have done their due diligence here as well. Rather than opine about their lighting I will let you all decide for yourselves. I have placed a few side by side images below from various points at the airport.
As you can see below my review rig is fairly middle of the road when it comes to X-Plane. With that said Justsim LFMN did run my frames down a little. I had to lower the reflections to minimum in order for me to maintain the minimum frame rate. In the air int he vicinity of the airport I was able to maintain above 25 frames with my normal settings. However with the quality of this scenery and its textures this is somewhat understandable.
- Fully compatible with X-Plane 11
- Shading and occlusion (texture baking) effects on terminal and other airport buildings

- High resolution building textures.

When you look at high-quality flight sim scenery you have to include this airport and Justsim on your list. The value for this airport is well within the range of acceptable prices for major flightsim airports. Please note that we are reviewing this product at its current state, not taking into account any previous versions of this scenery.
